In This Section:

Funding is needed throughout the process and sources include the following for starting and sustaining a program:

  • Hospital and private foundations
  • City government (line items in city budgets)
  • Federal including Department of Justice, Department of Defense, NIH, and CDC
  • There is now taxonomy for the front line case management staff, acknowledging their role as part of the health care team. State-level bills advocating for case workers to be able to bill Medicare for their services are currently under review with an ultimate goal of federal-level policy.
