The 50th episode of The House of Surgery podcast features Dr. Andrew Peitzman, who delivered the Scudder Oration in Trauma at Clinical Congress 2024. In the lecture, Dr. Peitzman describes how most blunt liver injuries can be managed nonoperatively鈥攈owever, operative mortality for major liver injuries that require laparotomy for hemorrhage control remains high. He discusses the factors leading to these outcomes and details approaches and techniques which can improve survival.
